CONSENSUAL NON-MONOGAMY (CNM) & POLYAMORY

My Mission

In the landscape of modern relationships, consensual nonmonogamy (CNM) has emerged as a dynamic and evolving framework that empowers individuals and couples to explore alternative forms of connection. I  embrace the principles of CNM, providing a safe and supportive space for individuals and partners navigating the complexities of non-monogamous relationships.

Understanding Consensual Nonmonogamy (CNM)

Consensual nonmonogamy is rooted in the mutual agreement of two or more individuals in a relationship, acknowledging and allowing each person to have other partners. This approach is built on pillars of honesty, trust, respect, and clear communication. It's essential for all partners involved to agree to and be comfortable with the consensual non-monogamous arrangement.

Unlike polyamory, CNM does not always involve being emotionally and romantically involved with multiple partners but instead allows couples or individuals to explore their sexual needs outside of their primary relationship or partnership. CNM can be practiced in different forms such as swinging, open relationships, and polyfidelity.

Swinging, Open Relationships, and Polyfidelity

Consensual nonmonogamy manifests in different forms, and understanding these variations is integral to navigating the diverse landscape of non-monogamous relationships:

  • Swinging: In swinging, couples engage in sexual activities with other couples or individuals with the primary focus on shared sexual experiences. I work with couples to establish boundaries and rules  to ensure the comfort and consent of all parties involved.
  • Open Relationships: Open relationships allow individuals or couples to explore romantic and sexual connections outside of their primary partnership. Helping clients practice communication and transparency about expectations and boundaries are crucial for maintaining a healthy and consensual open relationship.
  • Polyfidelity: Polyfidelity involves having multiple romantic and sexual partners within a closed group. This approach emphasizes emotional intimacy, commitment, and exclusivity within the defined group of individuals.

Polyamory: A Deeper Dive into Emotional Intimacy

Polyamory goes beyond the boundaries of consensual nonmonogamy by having emotionally intimate relationships with more than one person. Trust is a foundational element, and all partners actively participate in fostering a network of connections based on love, respect, and mutual understanding.

It's crucial to recognize that while consensual nonmonogamy and polyamory share common ground, they are distinct terms that highlight different dimensions of relationships. Consensual nonmonogamy emphasizes the freedom to explore sexual connections, while polyamory delves deeper into establishing emotionally intimate relationships with multiple partners.
